Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

Operation Christmas Child is here and we need you in a variety of ways!!

First, is with our SHOE BOXES…We have empty boxes in the sanctuary that are ready to be taken home, packed and returned!! Make sure you grab a label and some of the other useful information on the table when you pick up your boxes. Please return your packed shoe boxes to the sanctuary by Sunday, November 24th.

HERE is some helpful information about Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child as well as shoebox packing ideas.

The second way we need your help is as a DROP-OFF LOCATION VOLUNTEER.
Like last year, Westmeade is the OCC drop off location for our region. We need volunteers for each of the days during National Collection Week, which is Monday, November 18th – Monday, November 25th. Volunteers will serve during a 2-3 hour window to greet people who bring shoe boxes, share information about OCC, and pack the shoeboxes in the larger cartons. Our goal is to have 5 volunteers for each day.

Red Hook, NY Boxes Of Love Mission

Red Hook, NY Boxes Of Love Mission Opportunity

Westmeade will be privileged to send out eight members to our partner Redemption Church in Red Hook, NY this fall (Nov 20-24). This small team will be a huge part of Redemption Church’s outreach ministry, “Boxes of Love.” Each Box of Love is packed with many of the items needed to cook a Thanksgiving meal for needy families in the Red Hook community.

The group will fly out of Nashville on a non-stop flight in the morning of Nov 20th and return on the evening of Nov 24th. The cost of the opportunity will only be the cost of Airfare…$350! Our giving and budgets toward missions will help offset the total cost of this opportunity.

  • Where will we stay? We will stay at The Lodge Red Hook, a few blocks from the church, which sleeps two people per room (queen beds).
  • Who can go? 10th grade through 99 years old! This opportunity is open to active members of Westmeade Baptist Church. A missions team application must be filled out or have a current one on file for our missions team to review.
  • Are there any physical requirements? This opportunity will require a fair amount of walking and standing.
  • Do we need any extra money? Our daily meals will be covered except for the meal(s) during our journey into the city to see some sites (World Trade Center Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and more!)
  • How much does it cost? $350, just the cost of airfare

Contact Terrance Andrews with any additional questions.

Register HERE by October 20.
