Dr. J. Scotty Hogan
Pastor
Bro. Scotty began his ministry at Westmeade on Easter Sunday, April 23, 2000. He is a native
of Danville, Alabama and received his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from
New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Bro. Scotty and his wife, Kathy, have three
daughters, Alison, Sarah, and Joanna. Joanna has completed her degree in Mass
Communication at the University of Montevallo and is employed by Skywest airlines in
Birmingham, AL. Sarah is married to Joey Bertrand and is employed by the University of
Montevallo and has begun working on her Master's Degree in Counseling.
Alison is a Registered Nurse employed by Shelby Baptist Medical Center and her
husband, Matt Haines, is the Pastor of Congregational Care at Westwood Baptist Church
in Alabaster. Alison and Matt are parents to Bro. Scotty and Kathy's three precious grandsons,
Nathan, Drew and John David.

Larry Bottom
Minister of Education
Larry joined the Westmeade Staff on May 7, 2007. He has served churches in Alabama and
Tennessee with the most recent being Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hazel Green, AL. Larry
received a Master of Religious Education from Covington Theological Seminary.
He is actively involved in Associational and State leadership training. He has participated
in numerous mission trips both in the United States and overseas. Larry and his wife, Shelia,
have two daughters. Brittany is married to Andrew Sharp who is in the U.S. Air Force stationed
in Tokyo, Japan. Andrew and Brittany both serve as youth ministers at Kanto Plains Southern
Baptist Church in Tokyo. Brittany also teaches English at Cross English Christian School.
Brandi attends Motlow State College in Tennessee and works at the Boys and Girls Club.

David Burdeshaw
Minister of Music
David Burdeshaw is Minister of Music . He is a graduate of Samford University and attended
New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. David has served churches in Alabama since
1987, the most recent being Lakeview Baptist Church, Auburn, AL. David, Laura, Tyler and Elaine
are excited to be at Westmeade.

Julie Buckley
Minister to Preschool and Children
Ms. Julie began serving at Westmeade on October 23, 1995. She is from Oklahoma.
Oklahoma Baptist University is where she graduated from with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion.
She then continued her education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX
where she received a Master of Religious Education in 1985. She served in two churches in
Texas as Preschool Minster before coming to Westmeade as Minister of Preschool and Children.

Brandon Starnes
Student Minister
Brandon Starnes joined the Westmeade staff August 2007 as Minister to Students. He has served
several churches in this capacity, most recently being Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Bogue Chitto,
Mississippi. Brandon received his Bachelor of General Studies and Religion from William Carey
College in 2005 and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary. He married Westmeade's Dana Chaney in 2006. Dana is also a
graduate of William Carey College with a degree in Classical Guitar Performance. Brandon and
Dana enjoy leading worship together and they compliment each other very well in ministry. "My
heart is helping teenagers by leading them to Jesus and by mentoring them." Brandon enjoys
biking, kayaking, fishing, tennis, golf, weight lifting and guitar. We welcome Brandon and Dana to
Westmeade!

Margaret Morris
Congregational Care Associate
Margaret joined the Westmeade staff in the Fall of 2007. She had previously served as
Minister of Students at Westmeade and Autumnwood. Her main ministry focus now is on senior
adult ministry as well as assisting in other areas of ministry. Welcome back to Westmeade,
Margaret!

Katheryn "Kathy" Hogan
Missions & Ministry Associate
Kathy was called as Missions & Ministry Associate in November 2007 after serving Westmeade
as Office Manager/Pastor's Ministry Associate for seven years. Her ministry focus is on
coordinating our mission efforts and assisting the pastor in ministry. She also continues in the
position of Office Manager until that position is filled. Kathy enjoys serving the Lord alongside her
husband at Westmeade and is very appreciative to the church for giving her this opportunity!
